Solenergy Systems Inc. Pioneers Groundbreaking Renewable Energy Project in the Philippines
Solenergy Systems Inc., a leader in the design and construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, has successfully completed a pioneering project for Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CPFI), one of the Philippines’ largest branded food companies. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the renewable energy sector, positioning CPFI as a forerunner in adopting sustainable energy solutions within the commercial and industrial sectors.
Located in General Santos City, this 5.16MWpDC grid-tied solar PV system is now the largest self-consumption rooftop PV installation in the Philippines. As the second installation by Solenergy Systems in the Mindanao region, this project demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure across the country.
State-of-the-Art Solar System Components
The rooftop PV system employs top-tier components to ensure maximum efficiency and durability. The system is equipped with 405W and 410W monocrystalline panels from JA Solar, renowned for their high energy output. These panels are integrated with Fronius Symo Advanced 24.0-3 480 inverters, which are compact and three-phased, making them ideal for commercial and industrial applications. These inverters are specifically designed to withstand the often harsh climate conditions in the Philippines.
For support and stability, the system utilizes the Clenergy Ez-rack solar roof mounting system. Additionally, industry-leading surge protection devices from Mersen and circuit breakers from Noark Electric are implemented to enhance the safety and reliability of the PV system and the client’s grid. The installation complies with the latest Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) mandates, featuring rapid shutdown and arc fault protection integrated into the Fronius inverters.
Impressive Energy Output and Environmental Impact
Annually, the solar PV system is projected to generate 7,393,996 kWh of energy, contributing to approximately 12.5% of the plant’s total electricity requirements. Over a 25-year period, the system is expected to produce a cumulative yield of 160,815,877.26 kWh. This substantial energy production is set to offset an estimated 109,933.73 tons of CO2 emissions, significantly reducing the environmental footprint of CPFI’s operations.
Advanced Energy Monitoring and Management
To optimize energy efficiency, Solenergy Systems has integrated a centralized energy monitoring system from Envision Monitoring. This cloud-based platform provides CPFI with real-time access to both current and historical solar PV yield data, enabling informed decision-making regarding energy savings and cost reduction strategies.
Moreover, the Envision system offers a bespoke curtailment solution, allowing CPFI to operate the PV system alongside their gensets during power outages. This innovative solution eliminates back-feed to the utility’s grid, ensuring seamless and efficient energy management.
